Solution Selection

Our primary business, Solution Selection, addresses your business problem all the way  from eliciting your needs, through soliciting solutions (e.g. via RFP) to a proven evaluation process that factually and impartially provides sound selection and rationale to you and your stakeholders. We are experienced in vendor negotiation as well. We have served clients in the public, private and non-profit sectors across many industries, including insurance, manufacturing and technology, for over 20 years.

Business Analysis

Business Analysis is an umbrella describing multiple  services, including:

  • Elicitation of business and technical requirements pursuant to Solution Selection or application development.  We have evolved our approach to dovetail with Agile techniques, mitigating some of the pitfalls between requirements and iterative development.
  • We've found that process definition and improvement can occur naturally, once the process stakeholders can actually see and understand the value that is, or is not, generated from their current business functions.
  • Quality assurance testing of software is the reconciliation of business requirements and the delivered functionality of software.  Our approach fosters the traceability of those requirements into implementation.

Project Management

Many times after performing a Solution Selection engagement, we are asked to manage the implementation of the solution.

It makes perfect sense:

  • We know the requirements
  • We know the vendor's products and services
  • Most importantly, we not only know, but have successfully collaborated with, the stakeholders during Solution Selection

It's a great head start.

Our experience in successfully managing multi-million dollar projects doesn't hurt either.

Strategic Planning

This is one of the most misused terms in the business lexicon. Unfortunately, most strategic plans are neither strategic nor plans.  They are often lofty, vague abstractions, or very tactical lists of short-term initiatives. Both have value in the right context.

Given the variance of definitions, our first task will be to clarify and develop the optimal approach based on your needs, rather than impose a "one size fits all" template.

On the more tactical side, we can develop criteria to build your annual project portfolio and accompanying budget, and facilitate the population of it with your team.

On the more strategic side, we can architect a comprehensive strategy, with objectives and metrics, as practitioners of the Balanced Scorecard methodology.
